Each entry requires the following four elements:

• One song - five (5) minutes or less in length.
  
• A lyric sheet - no lyrics necessary for instrumental compositions.
  
• A payment - $20.00 per song (check or money order to: KVAMA)
  
• A completed application.
  

1. Each song submitted must be contestant's original work. Songs may not exceed five (5) minutes in length. No song previously recorded and released through national distribution in any country will be eligible. Songs may have multiple co-writers, but please designate one name only on the application. Contestant may submit AS MANY songs as he/she wishes, but each entry requires a separate cassette, CD, (NO MP3) entry form, lyric sheet, and entrance fee. One check or money order for multiple entries is permitted. (Entrance fee is non-refundable. KVAMA is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, misdirected, postage due, stolen, or misappropriated entries). 2. Prizes: Three songs will be selected and songwriter's will be awarded prizes at the Larryfest (KVAMA sponsored) two-day festival (August 15& 16, 2008). The top three contestants have the option to perform their selected song at the festival and prizes will be presented at that time.

FIRST PLACE FINALIST: This finalist will receive an award from BRETT HUSS SOUNDSTRATIONS...which includes a DAY IN THE STUDIO...to record your song. This finalist will also be awarded an additional prize from one of our sponsors. The first place finalist will choose one of the awards from the three prize categories listed below. In addition this finalist will receive a STRING SWING guitar stand and a cash scholarship donation from KVAMA.

SECOND PLACE FINALIST: This finalist may choose one of the awards from the remaining prize categories listed below. In addition, this finalist will receive a STRING SWING guitar stand and a cash scholarship donation from KVAMA.

THIRD PLACE FINALIST: This finalist will be awarded one of the prizes from the prize categories listed below. In addition, this finalist will receive a STRING SWING guitar stand and a cash scholarship donation from KVAMA.

PRIZE CATEGORIES INCLUDE:
A) Washburn Acoustic Guitar Donated by Dave Rogers (Dave's Guitar) www.davesguitar.com
B) Cash Scholarship donated by the Kickapoo Valley Acoustic Music Association and a Fifty dollar gift certificate to SSE music.
C) Cash Scholarship donated by the Kickapoo Valley Acoustic Music Association. Other award to be announced.

3. Contest is open to amateur (Amateur is defined by the KVAMA board as an original artist who has not obtained "national distribution" from a major record label. You may have recordings available for purchase nationally or via website which is permissible. National Distribution is defined as a contract with a major record label or sponsor as defined by the KVAMA board.)and professional songwriters. This contest is open to KVAMA family members, children, board members and anyone who meets the requirements of “amateur” songwriter as defined by the KVAMA board. This contest is designed to promote the spirit of songwriting for ALL.

4. Winners will be chosen by selected judges. Songs will be judged on melody, composition and lyrics (when applicable). The song must be the artist’s original work! The quality of performance and production will NOT be considered however it will be important for judges to hear the composition, vocal and/or music quality clearly. Prizes will be awarded jointly to all authors of any song: division of prizes is responsibility of winners. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

5. The top three finalists will be notified on August 14, 2008 and will receive free entry to the Larryfest music festival (one entry valued at $50.00). If you were not notified you may visit the kvama website (www.kvama.org) to view details posted and honorable mentions (posted by August 15, 2008). Prizes will be awarded at the LarryFest festival. Winners are not required to be present although preferred. Selected songwriter's will be required to return notification of acceptance and verification that the song selection is the artist's original work. Individuals under the age of 18 must provide additional signatures (and signed affidavit) by a parent or legal guardian. Entry constitutes permission to use winners names for future advertising and publicity purposes without additional compensation.

6. CD's, cassettes, and lyrics will not be returned.
